Slow internet in Marrakech: is it the Wi-Fi, the router, or the fibre?

A few simple checks can help pinpoint the symptom: whether it affects one device, one room, the Wi-Fi, or the home's entire internet connection.

A symptom doesn’t always point to the fibre connection

A page that loads slowly may be related to Wi-Fi in one room, a single device, several simultaneous activities, or the home's internet connection. A single speed test does not always show which of these is responsible. Start by identifying how widespread the problem is.

Make a note of whether the connection is slow everywhere or only in one room, whether the phone stays connected to Wi-Fi, and whether other devices show the same issue. Also note whether the problem is constant or occurs at certain times.

Make a simple, repeatable comparison

If you have a computer and a compatible network cable, compare its performance near the router over a wired connection with that of a device on Wi-Fi at the same time. Alternatively, compare two devices on Wi-Fi, first near the router and then in the room where the connection seems weak. Results depend on the device, the testing app, the local network, and current usage: treat them as clues, not a definitive diagnosis.

  • Do several devices work normally when they’re near the router?
  • Does the connection get worse mainly in certain rooms?
  • Is the slowdown affecting one person or several users?
  • Is it just one specific app, or are all your online activities affected?

Avoid running several tests at the same time: downloads, backups, and videos in progress can affect the results. Note the time, location, device, and connection type so you can compare like-for-like tests.

Don't confuse measured speed with real-world experience

A measurement depends on the chosen server, the device, and how the test is performed. On its own, it cannot explain why a video call drops or why reception is poor in one room. Several consistent observations are often more useful than a number taken out of context.

If the problem occurs on several devices, close to the router and in different rooms, note the router lights and check your operator’s information. If only the Wi-Fi seems affected, instead note which rooms are affected and where the router is positioned. An unusual indicator light can also help describe the symptom; consult the guide to the red LOS light without disconnecting the fiber.

What information should you keep before asking for help?

Keep two or three dated examples, noting which rooms and devices are affected, the status of the indicator lights, and the tests you have already tried. Don’t factory-reset your equipment or change your provider’s settings unless you understand the effect. These precautions help avoid erasing useful settings before the diagnostic visit.

These general guidelines do not replace your equipment's manual or your provider's instructions. The WifiUrgence diagnostic covers the agreed-upon installation inside the home.
