Start by describing where the signal gets weaker
In a riad, Wi-Fi may work well near the router but be inconsistent in a distant room, upstairs, or on the other side of a courtyard. Room layout, walls, and changes in floor level matter just as much as straight-line distance. That alone does not prove the fiber connection is down.
Make a brief note without changing anything: list the rooms where the connection works, where it becomes slow or drops out, and where the router is located. Also distinguish between no Wi-Fi network being available and a visible network that has no internet access.
Compare rooms and devices under the same conditions
A useful test is a comparison, not a single number. Using the same phone or computer, open the same page near the router and then in the affected bedroom. Repeat once during a quiet period and again when several people are using the network, keeping the method as consistent as possible.
- Does the issue affect just one device or several?
- Does the problem occur in a particular room, on a particular floor, or when a door is closed?
- Does the Wi-Fi disconnect, or does it stay connected but run slowly?
- Are video calls, browsing and other activities affected in the same way?
If only one device is affected, first check its Wi-Fi settings and try another device in the same spot. If several devices have the same problem in the same rooms, local coverage may need closer attention.
Check the location before buying a Wi-Fi extender
Check whether the router is enclosed in a cabinet, placed on the floor, or positioned behind a large obstacle. A more open, better-positioned location may improve coverage, but moving it may not be possible in a furnished home. Also note the areas where the signal is already satisfactory: an additional access point needs to be able to communicate properly with the existing network.
A Wi-Fi extender or Mesh system will not fix a fiber outage or guarantee even coverage. Before buying, check that it is compatible with your equipment, follow the manufacturer's instructions, and consider a wired network connection if the property allows it. To compare options, also see our guide to Mesh Wi-Fi in a riad.
Preparing for a Wi-Fi diagnostic in Marrakech
A simple floor plan showing the rooms and router location, the times when the problem occurs, and two or three specific examples can help explain the issue without resorting to repeated guesswork. Avoid sharing your Wi-Fi password or a readable photo of the router label publicly.
These general guidelines do not replace your equipment's manual or your provider's instructions. The WifiUrgence diagnostic covers the agreed-upon installation inside the home.
